Teresa Kaye Ashe Memorial Scholarship for Nursing

This scholarship is created in memory of Teresa Kaye Ashe. Teresa was a registered nurse for 28 years and earned a masters in nursing. Ms. Ashe graduated from Tuscola High School in 1982 and with a bachelors from Western Carolina University and masters from Lenoir Rhyne University. Teresa always dreamed of teaching but before she could teach her first class at Haywood Community College, she became ill. This scholarship was established by friends and family in memorandum of Teresa’s dedication to the nursing field.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
• Graduating Senior from Haywood County Schools
• Financial need
• Pursuing a degree in nursing
• Involvement in school and community service
• Must attend accredited community/technical college or university

SELECTION PROCESS
The Teresa Kaye Ashe scholarship committee will make a recommendation of a recipient to the Haywood County Schools Foundation. The selection process shall consist of a review and evaluation of the scholarship application and possibly a personal interview. The Board of Directors of the Foundation will make the final decision on the recipient of this scholarship. The Board’s decision shall be final. The Haywood County Schools Foundation, Inc., a tax-exempt charitable foundation, will administer the scholarship fund.

PAYMENT OF AWARDS
Payments of scholarship awards will be made at the beginning of the school year or at the beginning of each semester. Checks will be made payable to the school for students account and will be forwarded to the financial aid office.
